The first main results from the extensive Norwegian NORSCREEN study, involving more than 50,000 participants, are ready. The findings from the first screening round using ECG247 will be presented at the prestigious European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress in Munich this August.
The main results of the study will be presented by the leader of NORSCREEN, Professor Sigrun Halvorsen, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Cardiology at Oslo University Hospital Ullevål. The ESC Congress is the world’s largest gathering for cardiologists and cardiovascular researchers, and the presentation of these results highlights the international interest in the study.
Four presentations from the study
In addition to the main presentation, the NORSCREEN study will be strongly represented with three further presentations. Consultants Miroslav Boskovic, MD (Sørlandet Hospital Kristiansand) and Marius B. Halvorsen, MD (Oslo University Hospital Ullevål) will present substudies focusing on:
-
Symptoms as a «gatekeeper»: Exploring the extent to which symptoms should determine who should be screened for atrial fibrillation (AF).
-
Other incidental arrhythmias: Shedding light on the prevalence of other incidentally discovered cardiac arrhythmias detected during the screening, in addition to atrial fibrillation.
Large-scale screening made easier
NORSCREEN (Norwegian Atrial Fibrillation Self-screening Study) investigates whether systematic screening of older individuals can detect undiagnosed atrial fibrillation and thereby help prevent strokes.
In the first round, participants tested themselves at home using ECG247. The study demonstrates in practice how modern digital technology enables high-quality, large-scale ECG screening in a simple and efficient manner.
Meet ECG247 at ESC 2026 in Munich
ECG247 will, of course, be present throughout the entire congress in Munich. We invite partners, cardiologists, and all other interested parties to stop by for a chat.
We warmly welcome anyone who wants to see how rhythm diagnostics and AF screening can be made both simpler and better to come and meet us. There will be opportunities to see and try the ECG247 system firsthand.
The ESC Congress in Munich takes place at the end of August. We look forward to exciting days and to closely following the presentations of the first NORSCREEN results.
